What about the deer hunting?
This is why the Deer Step Lodge is here. Although we're located in Alabama, we're known all over the U.S. for our whitetail deer. You can hunt from one of 35 moveable deer stands, towers or shooting houses on the property. Numerous food plots around the area contain clover, beans and winter wheat, and plots are monitored and analyzed every other year and supplemented as needed with deer feed for optimum antler growth. |
About Our Deer |
| Our deer herd inside the Deer Step 600 acre enclosure is monitored very closely with a yearly camera census and extensive scouting. Thorough management and highly nutritious year round food allows us to grow some real trophies. Our buck to doe ratio is 1:1 for some of the best rut action you can imagine. Inferior bucks and does are harvested every season to keep our herd as healthy as possible, and your hunt more exciting. |
Deer Stands |
| Stay comfortable during your hunt in one of our many stands including 2 man ladder stands, 2 man shooting towers, lock-ons, climbers and ground blinds. |

Food Plots and Nutrition |
| We take great pride in our food plots and plant some the bestforage for our deer and turkeys. Advantage Ladino Clover, chicory, winter peas, and brassicas are in our perennial food plots, and Iron Clay cowpeas and LabLab are planted every summer along with a year round supplemental feed program with Purina Deer Chow for maximum antler growth and healthy does and fawns. We also have many mineral licks with Trophy Rocks and Purina Trophy mineral. |

| We have a camera available for getting your hunt captured on film so you can remember your experience. Our two man ladder stands and two man towers are great for video opprotunities. |
